tea leaves & sea shells

These two teapots will be put into an auction at Cardew's on the 25th November.

"Tea Leaves" Teapot
This teapot (as far as I aware) never went into production and was one of Paul's "experimental" teapots. He has always thought this teapot was a great idea but for some reason has never had a chance to take it any further - apart from the one that is shown here.

"Sea Shells Teapot"
This teapot consists of individual shells, hand picked by Paul from Exmouth beach. He then made a seperate mould for each shell and had great fun trying to place each shell on the teapot. This teapot never went into production.

Collectible Teapots

Collectible Teapots - A Hobby Worth Admiring
by Susan Dean
I suppose ever since I was a little girl when I got my first tea set I fell in love with teapots. Back in those days we all drank tea from a pot not like the recent days of teabags as we have all come to accept as the norm. It always seems so much more pleasurable to have a nice cup of tea from a pot.
Now of course I don't drink that much from a pot but I do collect them. You would be amazed with how many different shapes and sizes there are for one to collect. Some of them I have used and some that I would not dare to take the chance, as they are so old and delicate. Those ones stay under lock and key in my glass cabinet out of harms way.

Woman claims teapot cash

A woman has been reunited with her cash after The Comet reported charity workers had found £300 stuffed inside a teapot when they were sorting through new donations.
Staff at the Sue Ryder charity shop in Whitehorse Street, Baldock, were surprised to find the wad of cash when they opened the teapot and were keen to reunite it with its rightful owner.
The owner, who did not want to be named, was thrilled when a work colleague called her after reading the article in The Comet asking the owner to come forward.
She said: "I was moving away and I was clearing things out so I took some items to the charity shop.
"I had forgotten I had put the money in the teapot to save up for something.

Horatio Nelson

An interesting Black Basalt teapot. The teapot depicts Lord Horatio Nelson on one side and a semi nude lady with a lion & javelin on the other, it might be a commemorative of Lord Nelson's death? There are trees with crow type birds and classical acanthus leaves. The teapot is marked "Nelson" under his portrait and "Eastwood" on the front bottom edge. It was made by William Baddeley who worked around the 1820's, his wares were marked "Eastwood". The teapot measures 9 1/2" handle to spout, 5 1/2" high and 4 1/2" deep. The knob is missing from the lid & it has a loss to the tip of the spout.
