Horatio Nelson

An interesting Black Basalt teapot. The teapot depicts Lord Horatio Nelson on one side and a semi nude lady with a lion & javelin on the other, it might be a commemorative of Lord Nelson's death? There are trees with crow type birds and classical acanthus leaves. The teapot is marked "Nelson" under his portrait and "Eastwood" on the front bottom edge. It was made by William Baddeley who worked around the 1820's, his wares were marked "Eastwood". The teapot measures 9 1/2" handle to spout, 5 1/2" high and 4 1/2" deep. The knob is missing from the lid & it has a loss to the tip of the spout.
Sold on Ebay October 2006 for £151.62 [US $281.23]
