Big "teapot"

Big "teapot" in Guiyang miniascape garden
On February 16th, a "Zi Sha teapot" sculpture, about one meter high, was set up in the miniascape garden of Guiyang ("Zi Sha" refers to a special ceramic material). The whole pot is purple and placed on a thick base made of "ancient roots", while the mouth, cover and handle of the pot look very real. Two big characters of "delicate fragrance" are carved in the middle of the pot and a golden orchid in full bloom is painted in the lower part of the pot. "Green tea" continuously pours out from the sloping mouth of the pot, and pours into the big "cup".
Many visitors stop to admire the wonderful contraption.

Valentine teapot

Deborah Sauls' story of her "country boy husband," Bobby, who dressed in his best suit to deliver a dozen roses last Valentine's Day, won the hearts of the judges in the Tribune's 2006 "Greatest Love Story Contest."
Deborah didn't expect to win."It's very exciting," she said after learning she was the winner. "My husband gave me a really good story to write about."
The story details how Bobby traded his normal attire of jeans and t-shirt for his best Sunday suit to bring the roses, arranged in a heart-shaped teapot. It was a thoughtful gift since Deborah collects teapots. He added a love note that told Deborah there was a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow and he found his the day he found her.
Inside the pot was an amethyst necklace.
"The roses were beautiful. The teapot was sweet. The necklace was great.
But the best gift of all was (and still is) my wonderful husband," Deborah wrote.

Hennie Meyer

ONCE again, some homemade teapots by a local artist will be seen at a major international ceramic art exhibition in London next month.
Mr Hennie Meyer, of Durbanville, is a multi-award winning ceramist. Recently he was informed that his work has been selected and will be exhibited at Ceramics Art London 2006. But for Meyer, this is not the first time he participated in the exhibition. Last year, as one of two South African ceramists, he attended the Ceramics Art London 2005 exhibition, where 90 selected artists were exhibiting their work. They were chosen from 320 ceramists from 12 countries.
“I am very glad that I have been chosen again, because Ceramic Art London is the largest and most ambitious ceramics event to have been held in recent years. It is a special occasion, an important opportunity for me to present the very best of my works to the world,” Meyer said.
