Caribou Teapot
Front Avenue Pottery & Tile Co. MJ Schmith
This teapot is one of many pieces of handmade, decorative, functional stoneware pottery fired in a wood firing kiln located in Wadena, MN. Designed & built in 1989 by the artist.
Randomly deposited & melting wood ash inside the kiln, on the pottery's rims & shoulders, enhance the hand painted decoration, making each piece unique & visually textured.

Tea cosy by Charlotte Lyons
Made from a sage-green felted sweater, this tea cosy is 8” tall - a comfy fit on a 4-6 cup teapot. The decorations are made from similar felted, recycled wools and a vintage button. Aside from the rick-rack stem, the flower comes off for a wearable pin! This also allows for removal before handwashing the cozy.
Charlotte Lyons’s creative repertoire includes a happy mix of design, crafts and found objects. Born and educated in Missouri, Charlotte raised three artistic daughters in a bright pink house near Chicago. Presently, she lives with her family in a little green house along the Hudson River in New York.

Mad Hatter Teapot Exhibition
The center’s aptly-named exhibition is showing whimsical teapots ranging from the accessible Mother’s Day gift ($10) to the extravagant you’ve-already-got-that-Porsche anniversary present ($1,400). Well-worth-it pieces, like Bryan Quincannon’s “Turquish Tea” stoneware pot, are precisely the type of fanciful devices you would find if you fell down a rabbit hole.

£17,000 Vulture
A Minton Majolica teapot, modelled in the shape of a vulture attacking a serpent with a broken glued-on handle, made £17,000 at auction, £16,200 more than its reserve price!
Auctioneer Michael Roberts said: “It was discovered during a routine probate of a house after the owner’s death.
“The handle had broken off and been crudely stuck back on with glue so we never expected it to make that much.
“It was sold to a bidder in the Far East and just goes to show that collectors are prepared to spend a lot of money for pieces they want.
“Out of all the Minton Majolica pieces we have had this one has done the best – despite being damaged.
“I imagine it will be professionally restored now.”
In October 2005 a similar teapot sold on eBay for £31,894.56
