Julie Klein

Julie Klein from Brooklyn New York is very much drawn to the architectural elements of ceramics, with an emphasis primarily on vessel making. Her interest lies in experimenting with the notion of form vs. function and how they interact. Inspiration is drawn from nature, architecture, contemporary culture, classical and modern art.
The photo shows her ancient copper teapot.

Cheshire cat teapot

This teapot, in the shape of the Cheshire Cat, is completely hand built, from forming the clay, to etching the surface and giving outlines, to making the little birds and decals, to applying the underglaze and glazes by brush.
This teapot measures 13" tall and 11 1/2" wide across the handle and spout, and is 4" thick. This teapot is also functional.
