"Stella" by Tom Hatton

"Stella" was made in 1993 and is a unique and unusual piece from Tom Hatton. The style harkened back to the 40's and 50's and was reminiscent of the fashion of those times. She was actually based on Aunt Aileen, who worked in a pharmacy and wore a white uniform with a fancy handkerchief fanned out in her upper pocket. She always had her fingernails painted and the newest cosmetics because in those times, the cosmetic manufacturers made sure that the sales clerks were knowledgable and up on their products.
Made of earthenware, she was painted with underglaze and then received a gloss overglaze.
Standing 10.5 inches tall, 12 inches long and about 3.5 inches wide, there were fewer than 50 of of these elegant, strong women made.
Sold on Ebay £239.37 [US $456.00]
