Tea, Glorious Tea
THE Revolution Gallery New Kingston Jamaica is set to open its fourth annual 'Tea, Glorious Tea" international competition, exhibition, and sale of handmade teapots, and tea-related ideas on 24th August.
The concept, born four years ago as a showcase for innovative teapots, has now evolved to include not only teapots but also interpretations that are highly conceptual, sculptural, thought-provoking images and objects in all media.
Participants in the juried show this year hail from Cuba, New York, Miami, and Jamaica.
Three of the overseas artists are entering through the kind cooperation of Diaspora Vibe Gallery in Miami, Florida - an incubator gallery for emerging Caribbean artists.
Caroline Holder, a ceramic artist from Barbados, now resident in New York, who won the Jurors' Award at last year's exhibition, will also be mounting a companion solo ceramic exhibition.
The exhibition will run through to September 16, 2006 during gallery hours.
