'it's a journey through objects', clarke reflects of his design process.

Featured on The Alan Titchmarsh show November 4th 2011 with Teapot Island Museum owner Sue Blazye.
I threw the base of the teapot into a skip in Devon as I was unhappy with it but kept the lid. Many years later Sue approached me having bought the base at a car boot sale (people obviously riffled through my rubbish in those days!) I presented her with the lid. I still think it's an awful teapot luckily there is only one in existence!

A Chinese yixing pottery teapot slab built from a buff clay with incised decoration. There is a signed poem to one side and impressed seal marks on the base and interior of the lid.

International Small Teapot Competition & Show

Call for Artists: Big Fish, Small Pot IV : International Small Teapot Competition & Show
Deadline: 12-11-2009
This competition is open all artists over the age of 18. All entries must be teapots composed primarily of ceramic materials completed by the artist within the last three years. Up to three entries may be submitted by each artist.
This competition is specifically aimed at small teapots. The teapot as a functional item is believed to have originated in China (perhaps the Yixing area) as a personal drinking vessel. As such, teapots were not large. Over time, the form evolved to suit the desires of the users. This show celebrates the origin and diversity of the teapot. In the spirit of these personal, functional items, all teapots entered in this competition shall not exceed a volume of 16 ounces (approximately 500 mL).
Awards will total over $5000.
Best of Show: Trip to China in Summer 2010
Show will take place from February 11 - March 11, 2010 at the Saddleback College Art Gallery

The teapot was made on-stage during a performance by entertainer Johnny Vegas at the Ceramic Millennium conference in Amsterdam, 1999. It was thrown and assembled by Vegas in under 60 seconds as part of a challenge he set to potters Peter Starkey and Morgen Hall. The teapot was subsequently fired by Babs Haenen.

The 2009 Sydney Teapot Show opens tonight, Friday 31 July at 6pm at the Inner City Clayworkers Gallery Glebe. The Sydney Teapot Show is an invitational exhibition with potters and ceramicists form around Australia. The teapots are specially made for the occasion in response to the categories on offer. This years categories are Hidden Teapot Crouching Dragon, Gen XYZ Future Tea, Stranger than Fiction to name a few.
There are awards given by the sponsors of the Sydney Teapot Show for each of the categories with a major award for Best Teapot Overall.
There are whimsical and bizarre teapots as well as the functional and sculptural.
